Ergonomic weighing workstation for packages
We designed a custom workstation for weighing materials in packing boxes. The solution provides ergonomic and effortless weighing, easy handling of packages, and organized storage of tools – all in one compact workstation.
Initial challenge — The client needed a workstation that could adapt to different operators, enable quick and simple weighing without unnecessary lifting, and improve overall efficiency. Poor ergonomics of the old setup often led to operator fatigue, lower productivity, and even sick leave.
Result – We developed an electrically height-adjustable workstation with memory settings for up to four operators. Integrated ball transfer units make package handling effortless, while LED lighting ensures excellent visibility and reduced eye strain. The result is a stable, ergonomic, and highly practical workstation that supports faster, safer, and more comfortable work.
Workstation description
The workstation includes an electrically adjustable working height and a standard overhead extension. The frame is made of 45x45 F aluminum profiles, providing stability and allowing later upgrades with additional elements.
The chipboard worktop has a cutout for the scale and integrated ball transfer units, making it easier to move and weigh packages accurately without unnecessary lifting.
The table is equipped with a storage shelf, LED lighting, and an electric linear actuator with up and down buttons, allowing quick height adjustment and ensuring an ergonomic posture for each operator.
For greater safety, it is enclosed on three sides, preventing access to shear zones. A five-socket power distributor powers the scale, actuator, and LED light, and allows additional devices to be connected if needed.
In addition to the weighing workstation, we also developed a packing workstation with identical table settings, featuring an added film roll holder.
Step-by-step operation
1. Preparation of elements – Packages are placed on the work surface with integrated ball transfer units, allowing easy movement of packages.
2. Height adjustment – The operator adjusts the table height using the electric actuator or selects one of the 4 memory height settings.
3. Weighing – The scale integrated into the worktop provides accurate measurements without moving the packages.
4. Storage of tools – Necessary materials for smooth workflow are stored on the shelf under the work surface.
5. Lighting and power – LED lighting ensures optimal visibility, and the power distributor allows additional devices to be connected if needed.
